final proof: internet users don’t read

Okay, it’s not true, Internet users do read. But pardon me one reactionary moment as I share this thread, wherein someone asks how to get a password to watch a movie they downloaded. Uh, someone says that it’s a scam. Pretty clear answer, you’d think.

But then dozens more ask for how to get the password, ignoring post after post after post ON THE SAME PAGE that explains that this is a scam.

Reminded me of this post: Does the broken windows theory hold online?, which asks considers the possibility that some bad behavior on a website will lead to more bad behavior on that site. Is that’s what’s going on here? If someone asks a simple question for a password, ignoring the three above comments that explain it’s a scam, does this compel future commenters to also ignore those comments? Am I over-thinking the banality of this?
