I am sitting in the Mt. Ayr Public Library. This is the smallest library I’ve ever been in, but at least they have wireless internet. It’s also the loudest library I’ve ever been in. Jesus! these old ladies just won’t quit talking! There are two teenage girls sharing my table who have complained to each other about the loud librarian, which made me giggle.
I’ve written about 25 pages of my thesis, some of it during finals week, some of it over break. I’ve got to keep working, but there isn’t much to do in Mt. Ayr, besides visit family, so I should have time to work.
Also, for those of you who, you know, care about people who aren’t Christian: there is a nativity scene in the lawn of the public library. I’m appalled. But then again, rural Iowa is a few decades behind the rest of the country, and always at least a few years behind the Supreme Court.
