my bane: revising

I’ve been working on revising excerpts from my thesis for writing samples for PhD applications. This is not fun; as I’ve complained before, revising is not my strong suit. Luckily, I’m really close to being done. I have, however, noticed a few typos and misuses of words in the final draft of my thesis. I told my friend Luke this means I’m a failure; he assured me it is not true.

The quarter is coming to a close. I’m getting overloaded with emails from students asking me to read drafts of their reports, which I love doing because it shows they care (although perhaps it’s because some of them care mostly about the grade) and that they’re not producing just one draft, but actually revising and thinking about their work and wanting feedback. The combination of reading my own work over and over and over again along with reading my students’ drafts, though, is exhausting me.

However, as my friend Sarah ends her emails, Onward!
