Because of my birthday last Tuesday, Li-Young-Lee’s reading on Thursday, sleeping most of Saturday, and a few other things that distracted me, I didn’t get as much done last week as I had planned. This meant that I pulled an all-nighter Sunday night, which wasn’t that bad, and was very productive.
So, havoc wreaked on sleep schedule: Check √
Luckily I didn’t crash during the day yesterday, and I had a decent class teaching and really enjoyed our Intro the Graduate Studies course, where we discussed Li-Young-Lee’s poetry, and various understandings of language.
I got my first paper back on Monday. I got a B+, my first since I was an undergrad (unless I’m forgetting a paper in my master’s work). At first, I was crushed, mostly, I think, because I hadn’t slept yet. I hadn’t looked at the comments, yet, but as I thought about the paper, the grade makes sense.
So, blow to my overgrown ego: Check √
I slept 14 hours last night to make up for the missed night, and now I feel great, ready to read, write, and get moving.
Michael – I’d like to ask your advice about something — would you send me an email message saying that’s OK?
