“I will fight for the little guy”

I have to be honest: I haven’t followed a second of Oregonian Senate electoral politics (even while my fingers and eyes have been glued to CNN and NPR’s websites on the presidential primaries). However, these ads are pretty smart, I think, in developing Democratic Senate candidate Steve Novick’s ethos, especially in regards to his body. I think he manages to effectively play with two physical features that normally (and unfortunately) hurt a politician: his 4’9″ height and his prosthetic hand.

Random note: I’ve seen Novick speak. His stump speak includes the line “left hook.”

He’s a good speaker, and I think you’d like him on the issues.

    …should be “stump speech.”

Thanks so much for posting this, Michael. I also have not been following Oregon politics thanks to the national elections. I think this is an extremely effective ad.
