In my intellectual journey so far I have uncovered a lot of information. My biggest finds were about the factories that switched over from peacetime to wartime production. The Presto Company switched from making pressure cookers and other aluminum utensils to making artillery fuses, aerial bombs, and rocket fuses. The U.S. Rubber Company went from producing tires to making ammunition. I also want to cover agricultural production because their was a migration of workers from ag to mechanical work. I understand my question much better. I understand that Eau Claire played a nice role in wartime production. Both Factories received he “E” award from the Department of War for supreme production. Which is really cool. In my work I also researched about the men who served in the war but there are too many of them I cannot to a good research paper about them, but I did get some cool information on a couple of them that I want to mention though.

  1. That is very interesting how the Chippewa Valley contributed to the War efforts by switching what products they produced. In your research it is also a worthy mentionable to state about the “E” and its basic qualifications for that award. Also, are there any other awards that can be offered. I agree with more time and further research it would be interesting to find out the importance that agriculture played in the War efforts such as did the farming industry in Wisconsin, the products that were made, shipped overseas for troops. Overall, I think that you have a very strong understanding about your research so far and the importance that the Chippewa Valley offered in support the war.

  2. Good wrap up! I think you had a nice summary of all of your research. However, is there anything you didn’t find? Any questions that you have left? Is there any more research that you are going to do to find the answer to those questions? Otherwise, great! Just think of those couple questions!

  3. Reading this it makes me wonder about how it affected the company financially to switch to the different products and whether or not it hurt them or helped them financially. I think that would be good to try and find while writing your research paper.

  4. From your work here I can conclude that Chippewa did contribute a huge portion in the war. This is really cool and it is also nice to know what you found about Chippewa. Other than awards did Chippewa receive any thing in return for their help? Interesting research collection of weapon you have. Talking a little bit more about it might help in understanding how they were used as in was there any damaged caused to civilians, etc. Interesting work!
