I don&#039;t know about girls and if girls are always sissies. Certainly, as you note, many are tomboys or take on other gender performances. Perhaps it&#039;s merely redundant to call a girl sissy (unless one &quot;needs&quot; to emphasize her fragility or meekness) since, in a way, it&#039;s akin to saying &quot;girly girl.&quot; We only need to mark those that are different: tomboys and sissies, and so forth â€” not those who fit more closely to the paradigmatic gender role.</description>
