I’m finally getting around to updating my blog to WordPress 2.1.3. I’ve been putting it off for too long now, and I’d like a change of format, so here we go…
EDIT: Now installed and updated!
Cool – I like the new design!
Wow. Nice work. But I’ve gotta ask: what’s up with the violence in the masthead image?
Right now it’s one of the images that came with the theme. I’m looking for a better one on my hard drive. I didn’t see it so much as “violent” as spooky and spectral, which doesn’t really fit my persona or themes of research, but I thought it would work as a placeholder.
Oh, not to say it’s not violent — I didn’t mean to negate your reading. It certainly can be read that way, and perhaps it is. But I do intend on changing it.
Wow – this was a surprise when I clicked here. It seems more you than the original Collage. More collagy. Will you change the photo regularly as you do with Sisyphean? Does this in any way come from our CCCC talk? Hmmm….
I don’t really have plans with the photo in the header (except that late last night I accidentally changed it back to an older photo, but it’s back to a picture of me). I don’t think there was impetus from our 4C’s talk — it mostly came out wanting better blogware (newer version of WordPress) and a new look that was more fun and had two columns in the sidebar instead of one.
I like the new design, or at least the left half. The right half is really hard to read – the text is dark enough on my monitor it doesn’t stand out at all.
…also, I think syndicate is misspelled at the top of the page. Unless I have been remiss in my web surfing and I don’t know that it’s spelled differently here…
Thanks Dennis! The green shows up with enough contrast on my MacBook, so perhaps the problem is your PC? 😉 J/K
Yes, “syndicate” is misspelled (though a google search showed that a lot of people spell it “sindicate”). I just spent the last hour and a half trying to figure out how to fix it, but I’m at a loss. It’s not spelled that way in any of the php files I can find (the problem seems to lie in the fact that the theme creator spoke Spanish and so was not translating accurately, but I can’t find the word anywhere in my files, for the life of me). Ugh. I have to do homework, so I guess I’ll change it later.
I lied. I couldn’t just quit looking for it, but I finally found it. And I fixed the link, so it actually works as well.
Nice design update! I’ve used this theme in the past and it took me some time to translate some of the css from Spanish to English. The only thing that I am disappointed in with the new site’s look is the conspicuous lack of a link back to my site 😉
If I turn all the lights off in my office the green on the right shows up decently….I would say it has more to do with my 6 year old, low-quality-when-it-was-new monitor than anything else, though even with all the lights off it’s pretty dark.
I love your blogroll. I’m going to have to explore it.
I’m a little late to the game here, but it looks snazzy!
