so, I’m beginning to formulate where I want to go. How do we get college freshmen, in freshman composition courses, to write from themselves, to write with a “real” voice instead of a faux-academic, disembodied voice? This calls into question, what is voice? What is an authentic voice? Why do students want this faux-academic voice? What has been successful in the past? What has not been successful? What are all the sides to this issue? How can students both use real voices and then master academic discourse?
